Some residents of Tamale have eulogized the late philanthropist Dr. David Abdulai Choggu, founder of the Shekinah Clinic in the Northern Region..
The late Dr. Abdulai Choggu died at the Tamale Teaching Hospital and was buried on Tuesday.
Hundreds of people from all walks of life paid their last respect to Dr. David Abdulai Choggu who was given a state burial.
The mourners included chiefs, religious leaders, the destitute, children and government officials.
Some of the mourners in a Citi News interview described the late Dr. David Abdulai Choggu as the destitute savior.
They prayed for his smooth eternal journey with the expectation that his philantropical deeds could be sustained.
Affectionately called the “Mad Doctor,” the multiple awards winning Dr. David Abdulai Choggu died as Christian who believed in the Catholic faith.
He founded the Shekinah Clinic in 1989 as a philantropical medical facility that offers free medical services and accommodation to the destitute and homeless located in the Northern Region.
He established the annex at Wamale on the Tamale-Yendi road where he saved the lives of millions of hernia and HIV/Aids patients.
As part of his uniqueness, the late Dr. David Abdulai abhorred partisan politics and never showed interest in the age long Abudu and Andani chieftaincy stalemate in Dagbon which has disunited some Dagombas.
He was a unifier and a God fearing man who was committed to humanitarian services.
He was not fashionistic and was comfortable using some of the Shekinah Clinic’s old vehicles.
