The People’s National Convention (PNC) says it will not hold a huge campaign launch as other political parties have done.

According to the party, it will not be swayed into busing supporters from across the country to attend a launch to create an impression that it has a huge following ahead of the December elections.

The flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Edward Nasigre Mahama in an interview with Citi News said, “we have a difference view. This idea that you must bus people from all over the country and come and show that you have the support and strength is politics of perception and so I abhor doing anything for show. Let’s be true to the people.”

He said the party will however hold its campaign and manifesto launches but not in grand style.

Dr Mahama said the party is currently embarking on grassroots campaign in various constituencies in the country.

The flagbearer, who is currently campaigning in the Volta Region with some party officials says “the PPP is the party that will give Ghanaians sincere, honest leadership based on al inclusiveness.”

‘Manifesto details’

Edward Nasigre Mahama said the PNC is ready to officially launch its manifesto and campaign but is yet to decide which region to hold the event.

“It may be in Kumasi, it may be in Tamale or Sunyani, we haven’t decided yet.”

The campaign theme is that Ghana needs to start afresh, after 60 years of independence, children are still sitting under trees, major road networks have not been done, we are still importing things like toothpick. That is why we are coming with the idea of new beginnings.”

‘PNC slams NDC, NPP for false campaign promises’

The Peoples National Convention (PNC) Presidential nominee, Dr. Edward Nasigri Mahama has accused his two main contenders representing the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of making false campaign promises ahead of the December 7 polls.

According to him, President John Dramani Mahama and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo’s one dam one village among other campaign promises are acts of desperation.

He has therefore asked the electorate to ignore them and massively vote for the PNC to improve their living conditions.

‘Havard-trained economist is PNC Veep nominee’

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the People’s National Convention (PNC), settled on Emmanuel Anyidoho, a Havard University-trained economist as its running mate to flagbearer, Dr. Edward Mahama.

A statement from the party explained that, “the choice is hugely influenced by his humility, grasp of the Ghanaian situation and his exemplary and visionary leadership.”

Emmanuel Anyidoho, has in the past worked with United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), the Ministry of Finance and also taught at the University of Ghana, Legon.
