Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako, alias Chairman Wontumi, is seeking bail for Maxwell Kofi Jumah who has been arrested.
Kofi Jumah, a parliamentary aspirant in the Asokwa Constituency, was arrested for ripping up the voters’ register being used for the primaries in the Constituency.
Kofi Jumah reportedly took the decision because he suspected that the register had been doctored to suit the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Patricia Appiah Agyei.
Citi News’ Hawa Iddrisu reported that, Chairman Wontumi suspended elections in the Asokwa Constituency and headed to the Police Station.
“Before he left, he officially asked the EC to suspend the election because the delegates say they won’t vote unless Kofi Jumah is released,” she added.
