Flights to Tamale have been suspended by local airlines due to severe weather conditionsin the area.

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMET) is reported to be providing hourly reports to domestic airliners cautioning them not to fly to curtail potential accidents resulting from poor visibility.
Chief Executive Officer of one of the local airlines that is Starbow Airlines James Eric Antwi told Citi Business News flights will be put on hold till the weather conditions improve.
“This is safety issues, if the weather is not good we will not try it. We will not fly to Tamale.
‘Africa World hasn’t gone and we have also not gone because we have our safety issues and we have our limits and we don’t just disobey these protocols. For the safe operations of these airlines that is what we do following the safety rules as per international standard.”
James Eric Antwi told Citi Business News he hopes passengers would understand the situation.
He adds that the airline will fly passengers as soon as the weather is cleared for flying to take place.
But he was quick to add that passengers who are looking at using other means to go to Tamale can always get a refund to be able to travel.
“It’s because of the weather situation that we cannot fly to Tamale but those who want to go to Tamale by other means we can refund their monies to them that is what we always do and that is not a problem for us.”
This is the second time this year local airline have had to cancel flights to Tamale due to severe weather conditions.
Local airlines were forced to cancel flights to Tamale in January this year due to the severe harmattan season.
