Philip Addison, the lawyer who represented the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate Nana Akufo Addo in the 2012 election petition and aspiring Member of Parliament for the Korle Klottey Constituency will have to prepare for the contest of his political life as the party’s chairman in that constituency has also announced plans to contest.

The NPP’s Korle Klottey chairman, Nii Noi Nortey says his decision to contest in the upcoming primaries is because he possesses the qualities needed to recapture the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

[contextly_sidebar id=”c7gpXn0OcWfvEQbaceorQqqucZy2MsiI”]Speaking to Citi News, Nii Noi Nortey said he is unfazed about the likely competition he may face from his opponents.

“I was working hand in hand with the polling station executives, attending all social activities in the constituency, I was assisting them providing all the logistics for the party come back to life in the constituency because when I took over, the party was dead and gone,” he indicated.

Mr Nortey said he has the backing of most of the polling station executives in the constituency saying they told him that “you are an indigene, and the way you’ve worked hard, we call on you  anytime and you are always there. You’ve been with us through the tick and the thin, so we would like you to represent us in Parliament.”

He further boasted that “I am a man of courage and I am a man who believes in hard work and loyalty. I have served my party the fullest and I believe my delegates will reward me.”

In a related development, Philip Addison has said his bid to contest among other things is to help the party gain majority seats in Parliament.

“The last elections led to a petition and now we are going to have another election and there will be no petition. This time round the NPP has to win the elections. When Nana Akufo Addo wins as President, you need to have a majority in Parliament to assist him in governing the country and that is why I decided to step forward to assist,” he disclosed.
