Eight people have been confirmed dead in a fatal road accident that occurred at Tano Odumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The victims were returning from church when the accident occurred.
The Agona Police District Commander, Francis Kwesi Asante who spoke to Joy News about the incident said the accident occurred when a Sprinter bus with church members on board run into a stationary truck.
“We rushed to the scene and picked some to the Komfo Anokye Hospital and eight were confirmed dead and others are receiving treatment. Some at Ankaful, some at Methodist hospital and some are also at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital,” he stated.
It is unclear how many people were on board the two vehicles and also the number of people currently receiving treatment at the various hospitals but reports indicate that about 7 persons were injured.
An eyewitness who confirmed the incident to citifmonline.com said the accident occurred around 3. 15 pm.
