Fire has razed down portions of the Takoradi Market Circle in the Western Region.

[contextly_sidebar id=”YlR2Xw9VJAKSmgfwOSibVJpRH6gGZj6E”]The fire which started around 9pm on Saturday has destroyed various items and wares, running into several thousands of Ghana cedis.

Personnel from the Ghana National fire service had a tough time trying to enter the market to put the fire under control though there are six entry points to the market.

There is heavy security presence in the market to prevent possible looting.

Some market women told Citi News that the last time fire gutted the market was in 2007.

This year there have been dozens of fire outbreaks in markets and various warehouses across the country.
