The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the continuous detention of the three South African ex-Police Officers in the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), is an affront to the country’s constitution.
The three South African nationals are still in the custody of the BNI despite being granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court last week Thursday.

He however served notice the party will not be cowed into submission.
“This is certainly not in a democratic state like Ghana. These are the very hallmark of a Police state. Ghana has become a caricature of a state in the eyes of the international media and the diplomatic cycle.”
Mr. Ashietey charged Ghanaians to stand up against what he described as injustice.
“Ghanaians must not sit unconcerned; the NPP will not certainly sit down and allow the democratic gains made by gallant patriots like Akufo-Addo over the last decades to be eroded under the corrupt, heartless and incompetent leadership of John Mahama.
“For the BNI and any other Police institution for that matter to have the liberty to disobey the lawful orders of a court which has the constitutional powers to protect our freedom is a serious assault on our constitution, democracy and security as a people,” he added.
The trio, Ahmed Shaik , Denver Dwahye, and Mlungiseli Jokani were picked up at the EL-Capitano Hotel in the central region last week, where they had been based since arriving in the country early this month.
They were said to be training Nana Addo’s security personnel in various security drills, including unarmed combat, weapon handling, VIP protection techniques and rapid response manoeuvres.
The Head of Nana Addo’s security team Captain (rtd) Edmund Koda and the owner of the EL-Capitano Hotel Captain (rtd) Acquah were also arrested and charged. Capt. Koda has his charges against him dropped but he was latter re-arrested and kept in BNI custody until today [Monday] when he was released on health grounds.
