Inmates of Mama Lardi Foster Home in the Upper East Region, have lauded Citi FM for contributing to their upkeep every year through the Annual Easter Orphan Project.
The donations have been sustained since 2008, when Citi FM scouted the home and added it to the list of orphanages across the country receiving the donation made available by donors and listeners of the station.
This year’s donation included nine Maxi bags of rice, two bags of maize, two bags of millet, several cartons of tomato paste, diapers, toiletries, quantities of confectionery, assorted canned drinks, packets of soap, gallons of oil and several boxes of biscuits.
Latext Foam Mattress Company Limited also supported with 20 pieces of coated student mattresses.
Proprietor of the Home, Mama Lardi Ayeni, praised Citi FM for contributing to the inmates upkeep.
She said the kids and management would continue to pray for Citi FM and the donors for improving their livelihood.
Mama Lardi revealed that Citi FM continuous support had exposed the Foster Home to the international community and that some philanthropists have occasionally been supporting them.
Some of the inmates praised Citi FM and their donors for the humanitarian service.
Richard Mensah, leader of Citi FM’s delegation to the foster home also presented a cash amount of GHc 2,000 to the management of the home.
He said Citi FM management was passionate about the plight of the inmates of the selected orphanages across the country, hence the continuous donation every Easter Monday.
Richard Mensah assured them of the project’s sustainability, adding that Mama Lardi’s Foster Home will remain on the priority list.
This year, three orphanages across the country benefited from the project which takes place on every Easter Monday.
They included the Baptist School Complex (BASCO), an orphanage at Trotor, near Suhum in the Eastern Region, the Handivangelism Orphanage at Haatso in Accra, and Mama Laadi Orphanage at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.
