President John Mahama on Friday inspected the dredging of the Korle Lagoon at Korle Gonno in Accra.
The dredging is a collaboration between the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
The exercise commenced following the June 3 floods which wrecked havoc in the capital and led to the loss of over 160 lives.
The President admitted that the inability of governments to complete the dredging of the lagoon has over the years contributed to the flooding of the city.
In all, 13 excavators and 29 trucks are engaged in the dredging of the lagoon.
President Mahama also inspected work on the Odaw River dredging project at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
