A former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Kofi Jumah has been charged with destroying electoral materials and disturbing public peace.
[contextly_sidebar id=”xbB1VAm108Vv5ekLqIt3rOo6NRY69N7z”]Jumah , who is also a parliamentary aspirant in the Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti Region was earlier arrested for ripping up the party’s voters’ register.
He resorted to such an action after suspecting the register was doctored to suit his opponent, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency, Patricia Agyei.
The two have been bickering for sometime now; the incumbent MP earlier accused Jumah of scheming against her.
In a related development, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Chairman Wontumi is seeking bail for Maxwell for Jumah.
Meanwhile, Citi News’ Hawa Iddrrisu reported that the EC had to suspend the election because the delegates refused to exercise their franchise until Jumah is released.
“Before he left, he officially asked the EC to suspend the election because the delegates say they won’t vote unless Kofi Jumah is released,” she said.
