[contextly_sidebar id=”pctnaAi0T3mKEfl7TNpbqHYiyX1lvqDM”]Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu who was fiercely contested in the primaries had earlier urged the leadership of the party to allow him to go unopposed.
Though he was hopeful of being retained, Mensah Bonsu raised concerns about the failure of the party leadership to protect him considering the fact that he is the leader of the Minority side in Parliament.
He was of the view that the practice where the party allows its leader in Parliament to be challenged is undemocratic.
Some MPs including some members from the Majority side of the House have also been advocating for him to go unopposed.
I’ve not failed Suame Constituency
The Minority leader dismissed assertions that his failure to develop the constituency in 19 years is what has led to the stiff competition he is facing.
He accused his opponents of concocting such lies to make them look viable to the delegates. Mensah Bonsu was confident that the residents in his constituency “appreciate what I have been able to achieve not only in the Suame Constituency, but for the regional party, the national party, for Parliament as an institution and for country Ghana.”
“…come tomorrow, you will see the results and I believe that God is control and as far as I am concerned, it will be victory for Kyei Mensah Bonsu.”
He further expressed his appreciation to his colleagues in Parliament who have been speaking on his behalf for him to be retained as MP for Suame.
