The Presidential Special Operations Taskforce has carried out the third phase of current projects to tighten security measures at the Tema Port.
Government last year formed the taskforce to run checks so as to maximize revenue generation across the different ports in the country.
The spokesperson of the taskforce, Dr. Clement Apaak in an interview with Citi News revealed that the taskforce has instilled stringent measures to ensure that processes at the national ports will lead to adequate profits and returns for the nation.
“The decision was made by government to begin the third phase which is to go to the front end where members of the taskforce would be deployed to participate, observe and record the cargo that arrives on various vessels at the ports and also to get reports from various shipping lines which are usually made available to Ghana Ports & Harbors Authority (GAPOHA) and the Customs and Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS).”
The new exercise which was carried out at the Tema Port will ensure that the loopholes through which the state loses revenue are sealed.
