The Ministry of Interior has begun investigations into last Saturday’s Police recruitment scam, promising to punish anyone found to be culpable.
[contextly_sidebar id=”NZ2l6tvEClTgCe4BoFFQh1x5nJLQ0UPG”]Hundreds of young men and women last Saturday turned up at five Police training depots for enlistment into the Ghana Police Service but the Police told them they were unaware of any recruitment drive.
The victims found out that their recruitment letters were fake and that the purported enlistment was a scam.
The police have since mounted an intensive search for the arrest of persons who are behind this recruitment scam.
In an interview with Citi News, the Deputy Minister of Interior, James Algaga cautioned members of the public to be vigilant and seek information from the ministry when it comes to police recruitment.
He observed that “this is not the first time this thing has happened. It happened earlier on; the ministry issued a press release warning the public that none of the agencies under the ministry is recruiting. So we expected the public to take us seriously. That was an important official statement.”
“So what the ministry will do now is that we will continue with our investigations and all those may have taken part in one way or the other to help defraud members of the unsuspecting public. when they are found they will be arrested and dealt with like those before them who are already standing trial for committing similar offences,” he added.
