A Ghanaian employee at the British High Commission implicated in a visa fraud has been dismissed.

A press statement issued by the British High Commission noted that Ghana’s law enforcement agency is now “investigating allegations of fraud and conspiracy relating to visa applications” against the accused.

The Commission said “though such cases are extremely rare,” it  takes allegations against any of its staff “extremely seriously and will always take the strongest possible action.”

“This issue came to light precisely because of the strong internal audit and control mechanisms we have in place to monitor our entire visa operation,” the Commission added.

The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Benjamin also confirmed the dismissal on his twitter handle.
