ECOWAS LOGOECOWAS says it is satisfied with the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between West Africa and the European Union (EU).

According to the chairman of the council of ministers and the chairman of the ECOWAS Commission they are “very pleased” with the agreement.

The chairman of the ECOWAS Commission, Kadré Désiré Ouedraogo believes the agreement will be advantageous for the West African sub-region.

The two bodies are currently meeting in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast to make a “decisive choice” for the region on economic partnership with the European Union.

This will be on the basis of a report made by the ministerial monitoring committee.

The chairmen of ECOWAS and WEAMU are the chief negotiators, negotiating on behalf of the region.

In their speeches at the opening of the 13th extraordinary session of ECOWAS Council of ministers on Wednesday in Yamoussoukro, which will essentially focus on the issue, the Ivorian Senior minister, Charles Koffi Diby, and the chairman of the ECOWAS Commission, Kadré Désiré Ouedraogo, praised the partnership and described it as very advantageous for the West African sub-region.
