Speaking exclusively to Citi News the spokesperson for the Ahanta Traditional Council Nana Etsin Kofi III who is the chief of Ahanta Aboadi acknowledged the provisions in the constitutions which empowers the president to appoint and sack DCEs but pleaded with the president to rescind the decision.
He said “honorable Dofoyena has not done anything wrong to deserve this treatment. We have been working with him, he is down to the people, he has excellent working relationship with everyone, and he respects.
He added that “during his two years stay in office the district has seen considerable level of development. Talk about the extension of electricity to rural areas, the continuous work of the assembly’s excavator on roads, the provision of portable drinking water etc. These tell us that this is the work of a DCE and so we are pleading with the president to reinstate him.”
Nana Etsin Kofi III also added the council made up of the Otumfo Badu Bonsu XV, former council of state member and the paramount chief of Ahanta Traditional Area, Nana Kwesi Agyemang IX, Vice President of the western regional house of chiefs and the paramount chief of Lower Dixcove traditional area, and Nana Esua Ackah IX, paramount chief of the upper Dixcove traditional area suspect the Member of Parliament for the Ahanta West Constituency George Aboagye for fueling the sack of the DCE but argued that politics should not impede the development of the district.
He however charged the president to set up independent body to investigate the performance of the DCE which they believe will bring him back to post.
