The Kaneshie District Court has committed ace broadcaster, Kwesi Kyei Darkwa (KKD) to trial in the High Court, which will begin on March 18, 2015.

[contextly_sidebar id=”GS0wGPunZn6iwmSwnaIXmiHhjUPgmMJh”]The judge, Justice Adjoa Akyamaa Ofosu made the decision after state prosecution led by Maalike Woanya read the bill of indictment, which narrated the events before and after the alleged rape.

According to the prosecution, per the bill of indictment they had enough evidence to prosecute the case.

On his part, lead lawyer for KKD prayed the court to refuse the prosecution’s request as they did not have any credible evidence to go ahead with the trial citing the letter written by the victim to the Attorney General (AG) to discontinue the case.

He told the court that the bill of indictment as read by the prosecution could not stand as evidence more especially because they will not have the victim to confirm it.

But, in her ruling Justice Adjoa Akyamaa Ofosu said she had no power to decide on whether there is prima facie case or not and therefore committed KKD for trial so the High Court decides.
