The Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) has given the assurance that it will retrieve all funds embezzled by some employees at the organisation.

The Daily Graphic reported that  the acting Director Of Operations for the centre, Kwaku Boadi Asare allegedly forged 102  non-existing  companies and diverted over GHC 1 million cedis into those accounts.

[contextly_sidebar id=”PScez5wYgg6oFAJHqiZeABWHPlAVceFQ”]Aside this scandal, the organisation has been hit with a similar case where the former Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, Bertha Asoga has to be dismissed  after she was accused of allegedly stealing  GHc 500, 000 from MASLOC.

However speaking to Citi News, the Deputy CEO of MASLOC, Mustapha Abubakar said MASLOC will ensure that no employee involved in the malfeasance is spared.

“The monies are being paid by the culprits. It is left with an outstanding balance of 346,000 ghana cedis to be paid. We will recover the money, beyond that we are sending the docket to Attorney General to recover the monies involved.”

“No institution is perfect but we will continue to strengthen our control measures to ensure that loans that are given out reach out to the people who deserve it and not ghost names,” he remarked.

In a related development, Mr. Abubakar has downplayed claims that the organisation’s negligence contributed to the financial  malfeasance.

He clarified that the organization commenced its internal control mechanisms before the media uncovered the rot.

Abubakar further noted that it was MASLOC that reported the matter to EOCO which subsequently undertook an  extensive investigation into the matter.

“We started our own internal control mechanisms and they have been sanctioned. As I speak to you all the auditors expect one have been dismissed from MASLOC,” he remarked.
