Alhaji Iddrisu Bature, owner of pro-NDC newspaper, Al-Hajj has allayed fears that the removal of Prosper Bani as Chief of Staff will affect the party’s votes in the Volta Region.

A Pressure group calling itself Volta NDC Youth for Action has said it will not campaign for President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over his removal.
According to them the decision shows that President Mahama is deliberately ridding his government of all Voltarians in higher positions.
But speaking on Eyewitness News, Alhaji Bature who conceded that the Volta Region is the backbone of the NDC, insisted that the replacement of Prosper Bani will not significantly affect the paty’s votes in the Region.
This he said is because the Volta Region has benefited from the fair share of presidential appointments in the Mahama government adding that “virtually all the portfolios in the financial sector goes to the Voltarians and we also have other people playing key roles in sports and corporation.”
“So the position of the Chief of Staff will erode anything,” he added.
Alhaji Bature further argued that in terms of voting, the three Regions in the north vote massively for the NDC more than even those in the Volta Region saying “because the NPP also do well in those regions that is why we don’t see.”
On the new appointment, Alhaji Bature said Julius Debrah “is going to be a game changer” because “he is somebody who is acceptable not only within the NDC party and government but also within the political divide and the media.”
