The West Akyem National Disaster Management Organisation(NADMO) has said it cannot supply relief items to residents affected by the Yaw Tanor – Afranse rainstorm.
The rainstorm that hit the town last Saturday destroyed properties worth thousands of cedis.

However speaking in an interview with Citi News, the West Akyem NADMO Coordinator, Adu Kwesi explained that the West Akyem NADMO branch cannot perform its duties because it does not have the resources to do so.
He said because the West Akyem NADMO branch is normally under-resourced to help residents affected by such natural disasters, it “sends messages to those at the regional level for items to be given to them.”
“As of now I am discussing with my regional boss to see how best we can help them.We are now discussing it at the regional level, however I will inform my DCE when we finish with the assessment, “ he added.
This is not the first time a branch of the government agency has complained about a lack of resources to carry out its activities.
The NADMO Jomoro District in 2014, was unable to supply relief items some flood victims in the area due to a similar challenge.
