One of the interesting highlights of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations is Ghana’s coach Avram Grant’s revelation that perhaps his blue polo shirt is what is doing the trick for the Black Stars.
The Israeli has won the same shirt in most of the Black Stars’ games at the tournament in Equatorial Guinea.

“So we won because of the shirt and not because we scored goals,” Grant said with a smile.

The shirt has stirred a lot of debate on social media since the commencement of the tournament with a number of people suggesting that the coach has used the same one for all the team’s games.
Speaking after Ghana’s 3-0 victory against hosts, Equatorial Guinea, a clearly amused Grant told reporters that Ghanaians back home were in love with the shirt and had been the team’s lucky charm throughout the competition.
[contextly_sidebar id=”ydG6LkKcCMUO0wDXaay6nZnWuHvLqIRl”]”I won’t lie to you I have worn my blue shirt since the second game and everybody in Ghana wants me to continue wearing the shirt because it is a lucky shirt,” he said.
In the 2012 tournament, the then Zambian coach Heve Renard, also wore his trade mark white shirt the entire tournament, and led his team to annex the trophy.
Many soccer fans who love the side-talk in football also attributed his success to his “lucky” white shirt.
The Black Stars have reached the final of the tournament, setting up a repeat of the 1992 final against Ivory Coast.
The Ivorians won that game through a penalty shoot out.
The last time Ghana won the tournament, Nigeria was the defending champions and this statistic is getting many Ghanaians excited about the fortunes of the Black Stars as they face Ivory Coast on Sunday, 8th February.
