Second lady condemns maltreatment at Country Side children’s home

The  Second  Lady  Matilda  Amissah  Arthur    has  condemned  the maltreating  of  inmates  of  the  Country  Side  Children’s  Home  at  Bawjiase,  in  the  Central  Region.

An exposé by Investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas revealed that children were being maltreated at the orphanage.

This has lead to the arrest of the owners of the Home as well as some staff of the home who were found maltreating some inmates in the video.

She spoke to Citi News at a donation to the OSU children’s home.

The Second Lady donated assorted items including bags of rice, can food, cooking oil and toys.

The second lady who has been donating to the Home for the past ten years said she regarded this as an annual ritual.  She said “It is an annual donation I do, I intentionally do this after Christmas”.

Commenting on the recent maltreatment of inmates of the Countryside Children’s Home in Bawjiase in the Central region, Mrs. Amissah Arthur said that it was an unfortunate incident.

She added that we wait patiently for the outcome of the investigations. She said “it is sad but investigation is going on so we should wait for the outcome of the investigation.
