Dr. J.B Danquah died in Nsawam prison while on detention there.
But in an interview with Citi News, a leading member of the committee and a grandson of the late J.B Danquah, stated that though they are saddened by the refusal they will concentrate on the other programs to project the good name of one of the doyen of Ghana’s politics.
“We are disappointed that we couldn’t go to the Nsawam prison,” Boakye Danquah-Adu said.
He indicated that because “We are law-abiding citizens and a family of adherence of rule of law…we are not making this to become an incident of controversy that mars the greater efforts which is being made for Danquah’s proper place to remain in our development as a country and our attainment of independence and legacy of Danquah.”
Meanwhile, a number of activities have been scheduled to mark the 50 years of the passing of Dr. Joseph Boakye Danquah including a symposium, which will be addressed by flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akuffo Addo.
Other speakers include Prof. S.K.B. Asante and C.K. Tedam.
