The Consumer Protection Agency has thrown its weight behind a group of concerned Ghanaians set to demonstrate over the country’s recurrent power crisis.

[contextly_sidebar id=”724umkhgzrDm105CnciFiCbNS0lfVB72″]The group has described the crisis as “shameful” and “embarrassing,” hence, its decision to demonstrate on 6th March, Independence Day.

The power crisis has worsened over the past few days with consumers enduring sometimes, 24 hours without power.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, the Chief Executive Officer of the Consumer Protection Agency, Kofi Kapito lauded the initiative and indicated their willingness to participate.

“Anybody who feels that they want to hit the streets, they are entitled to it, I wish they would extend an invitation to us but they haven’t, as the OccupyGhana people did, they sent us an invitation that is why we joined them. But I don’t know this organization but I say kudos to them,” he added.

Mr Kapito said, “the constitution even guarantee that we should be able to go and demand what is ours. It is not fair to pay your electricity bills and then you get home and you don’t have light.
