Some Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) branch in the Walewale Constituency in the Northern Region are outraged by the decision by the leadership of the party to investigate comments reportedly made by their Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu on a leaked tape.

[contextly_sidebar id=”qmtR5u8TZb9iWJrs8Oek3c8nyGvNLU5O”]A voice on a leaked tape alleged to be that of Bugri Naabu accused party Chairman, Paul Afoko, General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong and leading members of the party of taking bribes from the NDC to ensure the NPP losses the 2016 elections.

Various NPP executives including a former General Secretary of the party, Nana Ohene Ntow has condemned the comments on the tape while calling for Bugri Naabu to be suspended.

Although he has publicly denied the allegations, the party leadership has announced that it will conduct forensic investigation to ascertain the voice on the secret tape.

However speaking to Citi News the Constituency Secretary of NPP in Walewale, Simon Ali said the investigation does not augur well for the unity of the party adding that “We as a political party, I think we have gone beyond recorded tape.”

“Our primary concern as a political party is to be as formidable as we are right now and we must be seen proffering solutions to the epileptic power situation,” he said.

He said instead of wasting time and resources on investigating the secret tape, the NPP could “focus on the general economic hardship Ghanaians are going through and think of proffering solutions to rescue Ghanaians from it. I think as a political party these are some of the things we should focus our attention on and not on recorded tapes.”

Meanwhile, the Second Vice Chairman of the NPP, Sammy Crabbe has assured that they will investigate and find the person whose voice is on the leaked tape.
