The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has ordered a forensic investigation into the alleged secret tape of the party’s Northern Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu.

A press statement signed by the NPP’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong said the National Chairman of the party directed that “the audio recording should be forwarded for forensic examination.”

[contextly_sidebar id=”EtnKtXIO6DXSAZBS049xWDA4nF3QUmQJ”]“A thorough investigation into this matter is justifiable, in order to ascertain the identity of the voice on the tape and the veracity of its contents. Hopefully, this will expose any mischief meant to undermine the unity of the party,” the statement added.

The decision according to the press statement was taken at the meeting by the NPP’s Steering Committee held on January 27, 2015.

Bugri Naabu has come under intense criticim after allegedly accusing NPP big wigs, including party Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong, of taking bribes from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to make the NPP lose the 2016 election.

His alleged comment has incurred the wrath of the party’s Former General Secretary, Nana Ohene Ntow and other groups who are calling for his removal.

Daniel Bugri Naabu has since denied ever making such allegations saying he “sees this as a calculated attempt to sow seeds of discord between him and the leadership of the party and to tarnish his hard won reputation.”
