The Ministry of Interior has renewed the curfew it placed on the Nakpanduri Township and five other surrounding towns.

[contextly_sidebar id=”QpdY67vweFyTwQDQxE8yHsQSQUs9AdQJ”]The towns include Kpatritinga, Bonbila, Borni Boatarrigu and Sakogu.

The curfew, which takes effect from Friday, January 30, is from 10:00pm to 4:00am every day.

The curfew, which has been in effect since April 2014, is a result of violent clashes between the Mamprusis, Konkombas and Bimobas in the area, which have claimed several lives and led to the destruction of properties running into millions of Ghana cedis.

A press release signed by the Minister of Interior, Mark Woyongo, urged the chiefs, opinion leaders, youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.

The release further banned “all persons in the Nakpanduri Township and environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapon,” adding that any person in possession of such weapons “will be arrested and prosecuted.”
