After months of postponing the opening of the Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, Ghanaians will now enjoy the services of the BRT, in March 2015.

A 14-member governing body to facilitate the implementation of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) transportation system was inaugurated in Accra on July 14 2014.
The first phase of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system was to commence in December with 87 buses but failed to start as planned.
The project was introduced by government with support from the World Bank and the French Development Agency (AFD), intends to enhance mobility of people by ensuring an efficient public transit system in the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA).
It is expected that the project will be expanded in Adenta, Kasoa and Tema to improve transportation in Accra.
In interview with Citi News, Roads and Highways Minister, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini said “the processes leading into the award of contract delayed the project. But the ministry finally awarded the contract in November though the deadline passed.”
The Minister added that they applied for an extension of time for the contractors to be able to complete work.
Alhaji Inusah said The Ministry was granted an extension to work on the rapid Bus terminal which will be completed in March.
The Contractors assured that they will complete the terminal ahead of Schedule and by Mid March; Ghanaians will enjoy the services of the Bus Rapid Transit BRT, System. The System will be operational on the Accra West Road Accra.
