Senior High School (SHS) students in the Brong Ahafo Region are asking government to negotiate with school authorities to give them ample time to settle their debts.
[contextly_sidebar id=”OHA9FxdZKDSGWGrzZgpF5QosMKRphnms”]This plea followed a directive from the school authorities just few weeks after schools reopened asking them to go home for non-payment of their fees.
According to Citi News’ correspondent Kwadwo Brefo, the students argued that it was too early to stop them from attending classes just a week after beginning a new term.
“We have been sacked from school for fees and we resumed just last week. You will only be allowed to enter into school compound if you have a receipt,” a student narrated.
According to him, even students at the boarding homes are being asked to go home adding, “even those in the boarding house have been sacked and if you are a day student that have paid unless you make a part payment you will not be allowed to enter.”
We are asking the government to help us because the economy is bad so the authorities at least should give us to the mid of the term, “he pleaded.
However, according to the correspondent final year students are also faced with the issues of full payment of their third term fees despite the fact that they will complete before the period ends.
He added that the Ministry of Education have urged the Head Masters not to charge these final year students the usual payment.
