The Bolgatanga Senior High School (BIGBOSS) will finally reopen on Monday January 26, 2015.

This follows an indefinite closure of the school, which happened as a result of the unrest in the school over the death of a final year student, Emmanuel Bawa in December 2014.

[contextly_sidebar id=”3TRe3HRYYu0YJvRE008ZOLtesG8P3DFH”]The Upper East Regional Director of Education, Emmanuel Zumakpeh  said a committee was constituted to investigate why the  unrest took place  and what measures to put in place to ensure peace and security prevailed in the school.

Mr. Zumakpeh said the committee finished and submitted its report, which was proceeded with an emergency board.

“We deliberated the issues one by one  and at the end we decided that it is time to re-open the school, enough measures have been put in place to ensure harmony in the school and so on Monday , Bolgatanga senior high school will be re-opened formally,” he added.

He said all students’ are to come with their parents to sign a bond of good behavior and in the event that a student breach the bond , he or she will be dismissed.

Mr. Zumakpeh added that all students’ will pay an amount of GHC85.00 for the damage caused to school and staff property during the riot and that is a condition before the student will be re-admitted  into the school.

Mr.Zumakpeh advised students’ to understand that their primary objective is to learn  to become useful citizens  and even where they have concerns they should follow the due process and not allow themselves to be sway by elements within the students body that are deviant .

He reiterated that the school shall invite the pathologist from Komfo- Anonkye teaching hospital who conducted the autopsy on the deceased to explain the cause of their colleague death to the students body and advise them on substance abuse.

“What is worrying is that, the teacher that was accused of killing the student had no hand at all in his death and need to be commended,” he added.
