The Electoral Commission (EC) has inaugurated a ten-member committee to oversee the implementation of electoral reforms ahead of the 2016 general elections.
[contextly_sidebar id=”qrC0aKkk9slMIa64PtSJW2mB6lIdCF8m”]The committee chaired by a member of the EC, Georgina Opoku Amankwa includes Peter Mac Manu (NPP), Asiedu Nketia (NDC), Christian Owusu Parry (EC), Mrs Rebecca Kabuki, James Kwabena Bomfeh (CPP), Anim Kofi Addo, Kwesi Jonah, Ransford Gyampoh and Franklin Oduro.
The EC had earlier indicated that it will be rolling out series of reforms to avert the needless technical challenges that characterized the 2012 elections.
Ghana recorded a landmark case brought before the Supreme Court by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over what the party described as widespread irregularities during the 2012 Presidential elections.
Several political parties and civil society organisations subsequently made some recommendations to commission for reforms.

Meanwhile, the committee have been given up to three months to present their report to the EC.
Some of these reforms according to the EC will include the provision of double biometric machines at each polling station and also the expansion of the strong room to make it more accessible to the various political parties.
