Fire gutted the country’s central drugsstorage and distribution facility at Tema this week.
An interim investigation report indicated that the fire consumed over 230 million cedis worth of medical supplies.
The report also pointed out that the facility had no fire certificate and recommended the prosecution of certain individuals whose negligence allegedly led to the costly disaster.
Speaking in an interview with Citi News, Ahmadu Sorogho who is also the Member of Parliament for Madina insisted that government should sanction those who have been indicted saying “I have made it very clear that if people are culpable they must be sanctioned appropriately.”
“This is serious and if it turns out that people delieberately did that, they must face the law so that tomorrow we don’t see these things, its becoming too much,” he added.
He also congratulated the fire service team for their swift response in putting out the fire.
