The official customized First Capital Plus Bank trophy for the Ghana Premier League has arrived in Accra.
Weighing 90cm, the trophy was acquired from Istanbul, Turkey and is bigger than the FIFA World Cup, bigger than the French Ligue 1 and even bigger than the UEFA Champions League trophies.
“What is important for us was to get the right trophy. We went to several countries including England to have a look at several trophies before settling on this. I think it’s only second to the English Premier League trophy in size,” Nana Yaw Kesse of First Capital Plus Bank said.
“The customised trophy indicates how prepared and committed we are to making the league better,” he added.
From the Kotoka International Airport, the trophy is going on float through the principal streets of Accra though 37 to Accra Girls through Nima where the fans will have chance to see the trophy before it goes to the Ghana Football Association offices to be presented to the GFA.
AllSports.com.gh can report that the trophy will also go on tour to Kumasi after today for a funfair at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium where fans will also have the privilege of taking photos with the trophy whilst getting entertained by the likes of Becca, Jewel Ackah and other musicians.
