The Family of the late overlord of Dagbon, Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani has reminded government of its promise to revisit the case by taking legal measures to ensure justice.
The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) party in its 2008 and 2012 campaign manifestos promised to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of the Yaa-Naa and bring the perpetrators to book.
An attempt was made during which nine suspects from the Abudu gate were arrested and subsequently exonerated by the Supreme Court in 2010.
The family is unhappy about government’s silence on the matter after the court’s ruling for which reason they want government to fulfill its promise to the family by re-opening the case.
The family’s wake up call is ahead of the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani’s 12th Anniversary on March 27, 2014.
Second son of the late Dagbon overlord who doubles as the family’s Spokesperson, Mohammed Yakubu Andani accused the government of totally ignoring them as they cry for justice.
He said the family was unhappy about government’s silence on the case after using the Yaa-Naa’s death to win political power in Dagbon.
He also took a swipe at the Members of Parliament from Dagbon for their neglect of the family.
According to Mohammed Yakubu Andani, the Dagbon MPs who benefitted a lot from the Yaa-Naa’s death are no longer interested in the case and have succeeded in dividing the family for their political gains.
He said posterity will judge them if they don’t find justice for the family who are bleeding in pain.
The Yaa-Naa Yakubu Adani died on March 27, 2002 in Yendi under the then President Kufour’s administration.
And the NDC in 2008 and 2012 used it as a major campaign tool in the Dagbon traditional area to maximize their electoral fortune.
