The severity of the Harmattan weather is affecting air travel in the Northern Region.
The poor visibility caused by the weather is preventing flights from landing at the Tamale Airport.

The Presidential flight carrying President Mahama and his entourage to Tamale was compelled to turn back to Kumasi for safe landing.
President Mahama who was en route to the North to join the people of Dagbon in this year’s Damba festival held at Yendi had to continue his journey by road to Tamale.
Apart from the poor visibility, people are spotted with cracked lips and cracked feet.
Majority of residents are compelled to wear protective clothing such as pullovers and jackets and covering their feet with long socks.
Even mad people on the streets of Tamale are not spared and one of them was spotted wearing a full empty fertilizer sack to withstand the weather.
Second hand clothing sellers in Tamale have taken advantage of the weather and are cashing in.
What is more worrying about the weather is how basic school pupils are going to cope with the weather when school resumes on Tuesday January 13.
The most affected will be pupils of deprived communities where schools under trees are rampant.
Meanwhile, an Ethiopian cargo plane crash-landed at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra on Saturday.
Although the cause of the accident is not yet known some officials of the Airport have attributed it to bad weather.
