Angry NDC youth in the Nzema East Constituency of the Western Region are calling the president to remove the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area.

[contextly_sidebar id=”ThCdumM1A4xYbvnZWvOL0pllZqRp368r”]They claim the MCE, James Atta Kakra Baidoo is behind the incessant illegal mining in the area.

They also accuse him of having used proceeds from tolls he collects from operators of the illegal trade to furnish his apartment at Axim.

The Communications officer of the NDC in the area, Jonas Kabutey says they have petitioned the president to sack the MCE “to save the shrinking opportunities of the party come the 2016 elections.”

He said the MCE “has been encouraging the illegal mining business within the municipality.”

The over 200 members of the party in the constituency are however threatening to embark on a demonstration if the president if the founding father of NDC, Former President Jerry John Rawlings fail to kick the MCE out of office.

“We submitted our petition to the president, we went to the founding father, copied the national chairman Mr. Kofi Purtophy, the regional chairman and the BNI etc. let the president hear and tell us something. But if that fails we will cause a demonstration and later advice ourselves,” Kabutey said.
