Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan has spoken of his desire for success at the 2015 African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea later in January.

The Al Ain striker will lead the national team to a second straight AFCON when Africa’s biggest tournament kicks off in a fortnight and Gyan is desperate to avoid the heartbreak of South Africa 2013 by lifting the trophy on the final match day, February 8.

[contextly_sidebar id=”qd9bw2headqs99D8mUsBqHzcjYwkyiiG”]The Black Stars have been drawn in the widely acknowledged ‘Group of Death’ at the biennial continental tournament; pitted against Africa’s number one team, Algeria as well as high flying duo, Senegal and South Africa in Group C.

Gyan, however, is unfazed, and is looking well beyond the seemingly tough group phase.

“I hope to win the African Cup in 2015” Gyan told his own website, AsamoahGyan3.com in a special New Year message.

“This is the New Year and everyone wishes for good things to happen, mine [wish] is to win the African Cup,” the Ghana captain added.

Gyan has been training with the Black Stars in Accra ahead of their trip to Spain for a pre-tournament camping as new coach, Avram Grant begins his reign at the helm of the national team.

The former Chelsea coach took over as Ghana boss at the beginning of December, replacing the first local man to lead the national team to the FIFA World Cup, Jmaes Kwesi Appiah who was sacked in September following a poor campaign in Brazil.
