The Juaso Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Fredrick Tetteh, has sentenced three Fulani herdsmen for attacking and robbing travellers on three commercial vehicles of their money and other valuables to 30 years imprisonment.

Fuseini Ibrahim and his colleagues carried out the raid in the early hours of December 5.

Police Inspector Manasseh Obimpe told the court that the convicts are Fulani herdsmen at Atabriso, a farming community near Kade in the Eastern Region.

On the day of the incident, they armed themselves with single barrel shot guns and laid ambush at Sakikrom on the Juaso-Akim Oda road.

Amid firing of gunshots, they seized cash, mobile phones and other valuables from passengers traveling on the vehicles.

The prosecution said the criminals also shot and killed one of the passengers, Seidu Abu.

He said the Police at Juaso received information about the robbery and quickly responded but the robbers had melted into the bush before they got there.

Police Inspector Obimpe said people in the nearby communities were mobilised for a manhunt for the criminals and one of them, Suleiman Yussif, was captured.

He was lynched by the irate mob before the Police could go to his rescue.

Days later, the Police acting on intelligence arrested the convict, he confessed to the crime.

The prosecution said one of the robbers, Tijani Fulani, is still on the run.
