Workers of the recently inaugurated Kpong Water Project are demonstrating over delays in the payment of their accumulated salaries.
The agitated workers were seen with placards expressing their frustration over the management’s seeming indifference over their concerns.

The project when fully completed is also expected to pump about 40 million gallons of water to residents in the area.
The Kpong Water Supply Expansion Project includes a water plant, an office building for the production and management of the water plant, water pumps, a substation, a raw water aeration tank, a low-load settling pond, an air-water backwash pond, a large clean water tank and water pipes as well as force pump stations concerning water purification technologies such as regular sediment, sand filtration and disinfection.
The project was financed by the China Export Import Bank and the government of Ghana at a cost of over $200 million.
