President John Mahama on Tuesday turned on the valves at the Kpong Water Supply Expansion project.

This will allow 20 million gallons of water to be supplied to some communities in parts of the Greater Accra and Eastern regions which have been without potable water for years.

The communities to benefit are; Adenta, Ashongman, Nii Boi Town, Ashaley Botwe, East Legon, Haatso, Dodowa and Dome in the Greater Accra Region.

In the Eastern Region, the communities include Somanya, Krobo Odumase, towns on the Akuapem Ridge and Atimpoku.

The project was financed by the China Export Import Bank and the government of Ghana at a cost of $273 million.
