The 22 year old Jolly Tumuhiirwe, according local media, apologized to the parents of the child and the general public for her behaviour.

According to her, she did not know what came over her to commit such “an inhumane act.”

Following her plea, she will wait a little longer to hear her sentence after the court adjourned the proceedings of the case until Wednesday for the pronouncement of the appropriate sentence.

The toddler, Aneela, after medical checks is said to be fine.

There were earlier reports that the nanny could be mentally disturbed to have committed such an act but after being subjected to medical tests it was established that she was mentally sound.

It is still unclear yet how many years she could be imprisoned but such an act in Uganda could earn her 15 years in jail.
