Police in Kumasi have arrested one person in connection with the murder of an Ecobank branch manager of Ghana in the Ashanti Region.

The suspect is currently assisting with  investigations.

“As of now, we have not been able to arrest the perpetrators, but we have arrested one person who is assisting us with investigations and we have also declared a reward of 5,000 to anybody whose information will lead to the arrest of the perpertrators,”the Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Police, Yussif Tanko said

The Police have also assured they will smoke out the murderers of the manager.

The Police have promised a 5000 cedis reward for  anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of the culprits.

Narrating the incident to Citi News, Yussif Tanko  said the deceased was shot while praying at dawn in his hall.

“According to his wife, they were sleeping so around 2: 30 pm therabout, because he is a pastor he wakes up and prays and when he went to the hall, all that she heard was; don’t remove the mask, don’t remove the mask, and the first thing she heard was  gunshot so she rushed there, and found him lying there in a pool of blood with three men holding guns.”

He said the armed men also bolted away with GHC350 , an iPad and a laptop.

“They took an iPad that belonged to the deceased… and they bolted so she quickly called people and made a report.”

There have been similar incidents recorded in Kumasi in 2014.

A similar incident also happened in Accra where a 32 year old Stanbic Bank worker was killed at Batsona in Accra.

Hiplife artiste Kwaw Kesse’s manager Fennec Okyere was also killed in a similar fashion.

A security analyst, Kwesi Anning in an earlier interview with Citi News predicted that the rising spate of brutal killings in the country would increase.
