Anti Corruption Crusader, Sydney Casley Hayford has said the Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice(CHRAJ), Lauretta Lamptey’s alleged thousand dollar expenditure on her accommodation is because she has “lost her moral compass.”

Preliminary investigations by the Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Woode, found Lauretta Lamptey guilty of  abuse of office, unless there is a contrary proof, thereby establishing a prima facie case against her.

[contextly_sidebar id=”g2TSpVEqewNTR3Cuyr4bBvyVsizeAFrE”]Lauretta Lamptey spent over $200, 000 as rent for her accommodation at the AU village in Accra while her official residence was under renovation.

She later moved into a $450 a night hotel in Accra after moving from the AU Village.

“It seems to me that somewhere along the line, the Commissioner has lot her moral compass and she has wandered away from the specific duties and responsibilities attached to that office,” Casley Hayford stated.

Speaking on Citi FM’s news analysis programme, the Big Issue, Mr. Casley Hayford described the establishment of a prima facie against the Commissioner as a good move.

According to him, moves to ensure that Lauretta Lamptey is punished for her decision is meant to ensure that “the loopholes that allow civil servants and politicians to bastardise the system to the disadvantage to those who are citizens of this country are fixed.”

“We need somebody who is going to be there, realising that this not about fixing the constitution or people’s complaints,” Casley Hayford added.

Jutice Emile Short said CHRAJ is gradually losing it credibility both internationally and locally.

Apart from the revelations on the Commissioner’s expenses, fresh investigations have revealed that the CHRAJ Boss spent about $105,000 on her official foreign trips within two years.

The CHRAJ boss has since moved into her official residence.

In a statement issued to Citi News, Ms Lauretta Vivian Lamptey indicated that on Wednesday, November 26, she moved out of the hotel where she had been lodging since August 2014.
