The lives of over three hundred public school pupils in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra region are at risk due to the wobbling nature of their school structures which was constructed barely two years ago.

Reports  indicate that there are huge cracks developing on the walls of the various classrooms, making learning in those structures extremely dangerous.

The Ashaiman number one and two cluster of schools were constructed barely a year and half ago to decongest the overcrowded cluster of schools in the area.

The pupils in the school are usually sent home each time it rains due to leakages in the classroom ceiling.

According to Citi News’ Tema Correspondent, Elvis Washington “these buildings were inaugurated in January 2012 but two years down the line, the buildings have become weak.”

He said a  tour to the facility “showed deep cracks within the pillars, and walls.”

“The pillars had all given way…You see the deep cracks within the buildings itself and the lives of these children who school here have been put in danger.”

The Assembly man of the area, Prince Mohammed said the buildings have deteriorated because the engineers who worked on the project refused to monitor ongoing work in the area, allowing the builders to do a shoddy job.
