The Ghana Education Service (GES) will terminate the appointment of all untrained teachers in the Brong Ahafo region at the end of 2014 to enable it verify the untrained teachers’ certificate.

This year alone, the Asunafo North and the Asutifi South Directorate of Education in the region dismissed about 96 pupil teachers for using fake certificates to teach for two years.

[contextly_sidebar id=”Wp0IBoB6YRDB0HTj8ZlcrSJRqU1ScIzx”] This prompted the Ghana Education service to instruct all the directors to dismiss them to re-apply for re appointment .

The Brong Ahafo Regional Director of Education, Dr. George Adjei Haney in an interview with Citi News said “we have asked all teachers to reapply. We are using this opportunity to even check because some even fraudulently had their names on our payroll , some had fake certificates so the exercise is to enable us to look at those who really qualified in our classrooms.”

“It is quite alarming a lot of things have been found. Certificates belonging to their relatives and friends were used…”

This is not the first time the GES has taken a decision to terminate the appointment of teachers.

In September, the GES terminated the appointment of all pupil teachers who had failed to upgrade themselves.

The GES announced its decision of replacing the dismissed pupil teachers with the trained ones.
