A Propaganda Secretary aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kobby Fiagbe has described the Mahama administration as one of the best governments Ghana has had in history.

He was of the view that Ghanaians are not grateful for the enormous work President John Mahama is doing because the government is failing to tell the “NDC story.”

“This is one of the best performing governments we have had in the history of Ghana,” he remarked on the Point Blank segment of Eyewitness News.

“That has always been the NDC style but I think it is not a good style that you wait until the last minute to tell your story. The story must be told and must be told now,” he stated.

[contextly_sidebar id=”cAxX9hPrA2L3o4XbWed2f9gcJkTy5aCZ”]Mr. Fiagbe was confident about the achievements of the NDC government saying, “trust me; we haven’t begun to tell the story of the NDC under John Mahama yet. When we start telling the story, the people will begin to see.”

He recalled that between 2009 to 2012, Ghanaians complained about the hardship in the country but the death of President John Mills changed people’s perception about the government’s supposed failings.

“From 2009 to 2012 before 24th July, ‘enko yie, enko yie’ [Things are not going on well]– that was the mantra in this country but as a result of the unfortunate demise of President Mills, the story of the success he has achieved in this country started unfolding…”

On the issue of corruption, the Propaganda Secretary aspirant pointed out that major corruption scandals have rocked the nation under every government; therefore the Mahama-led administration is no exception.

He was however quick to clarify that despite the age long canker, “those cases notwithstanding didn’t take away from the good works that the administration has done.”

Touching on the issue of the energy crisis, Mr. Fiagbe accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of failing to add more megawatts of power to the national grid six years out of the eight it governed the nation despite the growing demand.

He said: “They just passed on the power crisis of 2007 to the next generation… and this is where we are and that is why President Mahama is working to add more generation capacity.”

He acknowledged the anger and anxiety Ghanaians are feeling over the power crisis saying, “Ghanaians are angry about the power crisis; they are feeling it and are angry about the lights off. Ghanaians are justifiably angry except that they are misdirecting their anger but the NDC has not told its story well enough!”

Kobby Fiagbe thus gave the assurance that if NDC delegates elect him as Propaganda Secretary, the story of the NDC will be told to restore public confidence in the government.
