The President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr. Opoku Adusei is calling on government to expedite action on the construction of the Ashanti Regional Hospital to ease pressure on Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

“They cut the sword about three times to put up a regional hospital for Ashanti but if we are not careful the landowners will even take their lands. What are we doing?.

I hope that they speed the  because if you take the Komfo Anokye out ,there are no hospitals…you can talk of Agogo hospital but if you look at the position of Agogo , it is off the road”

KATH serves as a referral hospital for almost five regions in the country.

The 250 bed facility is situated at   Asante Akim North District of  the Ashanti .

It is being financed by the Government of Ghana with a concessionary credit from external sources.

Dr. Adusei said over two learned people and beyond access health care at the hospital hence the massive pressure.
