Avram Grant will arrive in Accra on Wednesday night with advanced contract talks due to start on Thursday over the issues standing between the Israeli and a new job as Ghana coach.

The Ghana Football Association says Grant will be handed a two-year contract as the new Ghana coach pending an agreement on the financial terms of his contract and other rules of engagement.

“We’re going to engage Grant on the details of the job requirement and expectations which will span from remuneration, conditions of service and others,” Nyantakyi added. “We are going to re-negotiate effectively. We know his salary expectation but we’d like to see if we can beat it down further.”

AllSports.com.gh understands that in addition to the financial issues, the GFA will look into suggestions that Grant’s Israeli passport could pose accessibility problems if he has to travel to some specific Arab nations in his line of duty.

Beyond those however, Grant remains the man the GFA wants as Kwesi Appiah’s replacement  and are hoping they can cross all the Ts and dot the I’s before making a formal announcement as soon as they can.

The GFA says Grant ranked highest after they interviewed the former Chelsea boss, Michel Pont who worked with the Switzerland national team as assistant coach and Juan Ignacio Jiminez who is in line to become Ghana coach in the event that Grant and the Ghana Football Association don’t reach a deal.

Grant’s background as a former Chelsea boss and manager of Israel seem to have been some of the factors that gave him the edge over the applicants and Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan says he is already looking forward to working with the Israeli.

“He’s coached one of the best teams in the World before, everybody knows him on the world scene,” Gyan said. “We just can’t wait for our first training with him. I am sure we will abide by his tactics.

If negotiations which are due to begin on Thursday morning goes well, Gyan and the GFA will get their wish.
