The Bawku police have arrested two persons for a shootout that occurred in the area on Friday evening that left one person injured.
Reports indicate that the Bawku township is calm after the incident that occurred some few metres away from the Bawku District Police Station.

Bawku has for some time now witnessed a number of shooting incidents.
In their bid to rid the town of illegal weapons, the police in the town earlier asked residents to surrender their weapons and receive a cash amount in return but only two residents obeyed the directive.
The commander of the Bawku District Police Command, Chief Superintendent Tesucor Kaletsi told Citi News the two suspects arrested will help speed up their investigations.
“I had the report alright that there was some shootout yesterday, the person didn’t die but in a later development there was this woman who they were attempting to murder and we were able to arrest the suspects and retrieved the weapons. So they are in prison custody and they are under investigations. Two suspects have been arrested,” he said.
